The Salad Trail - Shvil HaSalat

Bring your family south to the upper Negev-Habsor region, located west of Be'er Sheva. There you'll experience a rare tour and eat your way through the the fresh and tasty greenhouses of the south while also getting an opportunity to race carrier pigeons. During The Salad Trail tour you'll learn about high-tech agricultural techniques while picking and eating beautiful fruits and vegetables.

Visit the Tomato Greenhouse to learn how they grow upwards and why there are enormous bees in the area. What about a stop at the Greenhouse of Flying Strawberries? Discover why they grow in the air, who the strawberries’ bio-engineered friends are and how the water and special soil helps to make this such a delicious fruit. Find out how they transported an orchard from the Sharon area at The Orchard of Chinese Oranges and then make Hawaiian style necklaces from the fruit.

Have you ever seen the 'Racing of Homing Pigeons?' Once these pigeons were the e-mail of the ancient world, see who's bird is fastest and send messages and wishes on the legs of the pigeons.

At the Herbal Greenhouse of Fresh Medical Herbs you'll learn that these herbs are not only for eating by touching, smelling and hearing about their essential oils. Next, bake bread with za'atar and olive oil with Bedouins at 'Pitot on the Saj.' You'll explore a genuine maze from passion fruit then see The Field of Carrots to learn their history and collect a rainbow of carrots.
