Congregational trips help participants experience Israel intimately with a journey steeped in religious and spiritual history. An expedition through the Jewish homeland with a synagogue community creates the opportunity for groups to explore their spirituality and Jewish identity together.

Amiel will help your congregation to build a trip to include all the exciting components of Israel travel: religion, history, art, architecture, music, Tikkun Olam, people, and places. In Israel, historic religious sites stir the imagination. Create a congregational trip that is engaging, enjoyable and presents the spiritual significance and beauty of Israel. At Amiel we design customized trips that help participants find their personal relationship to Israel.

Build a trip that features art, archaeology, history, politics, people and more.  See the flyer for details.

Extensions: Petra, the Red Sea, & Eilat

Petra

Although much has been written about Petra, nothing really prepares you: it really does need to be seen to be believed. Petra, chosen as one of the 7 Wonders of the World is without a doubt Jordan's most valuable treasure and it's greatest tourist attraction. The vast, unique city, carved into the sheer rock face by the Nabataeans is Petra's most famous monument. The Treasury appears dramatically at the end of the Siq (the shaft), various walks and climbs reveal hundreds of buildings, facades, tombs, baths, funerary halls, temples and a 3000 seat theater from the 1st Century AD. From Tel Aviv's Sde Dov airport it's a short hop to land in Eilat, transfer to the Arava border and into Petra.

Eilat on the Red Sea

Visit Israel’s well know spot on the southernmost tip of Israel, at the Gulf of Eilat on the shores of the Red Sea. Known since the times of King Solomon, Eilat today is Israel’s tourist spot for sun worshipers, diving enthusiasts, and desert lovers. Eilat offers endless water activities: water sports, glass bottom boat rides, an underwater observatory Marine Park, and Dolphin Reef to swim with the dolphins, desert jeep tours to discover plant life, birds and animals, desert creatures and fauna, and sites from ancient history.

The Negev and the South

Mountains, wadis, canyons and dunes make up this vast area of Southern Israel. Once part of the Spice Route Caravans of the East this area reveals the ancient fortresses, monasteries, and footprints of the Bible and 4000 years of history. Visit Be’er Sheva and the Nabatean City of Avdat. Juxtaposed to the past are the extraordinary high tech developments in vast areas of water, farming, agriculture, ecotourism, and so much more.

Experience Jewish Europe

Eastern Europe offers a wide range of Jewish, cultural, political and scenic variety. Extend your trip to explore Prague, Vienna, and/or Budapest and immerse yourself in European culture. You'll gain an insight into many fascinating places – from the international tourist hub of Prague to the variety of sights in Vienna and the beautiful Hungarian capital on the Danube. Berlin extension will give you unforgettable impressions of the German capital.

Prague

Visit the Jewish Quarter that comprises the most well-preserved complex of Jewish historical monuments in Europe. There you will see the Maisel, Pinkas and Klausen Synagogues as well as the Old-New Synagogue. This is the oldest site of Prague’s Jewish Quarter and has been the main synagogue of the Jewish community in Prague for more than 700 years. After lunch you will learn more about Jewish life in Prague nowadays. For dinner you will visit the Pilsner Restaurant, one of the best known restaurants of the city. It is located in the Municipal House and presents an interesting mixture between classical Jugendstil and beer house atmosphere inside. See Prague’s historical highlights like the Prague Castle including the Royal Palace as well as St. Veits Cathedral and the Golden Lane, a street consisting of 11 tiny colored houses.

Vienna

Visit Mauthausen, the former concentration camp, one of the largest camps in the German-controlled part of Europe. More than 200,000 people from all over Europe had been arrested between 1938 and 1945 and more than half of them lost their lives. Explore Vienna on a carriage ride with the typical Fiaker, go shopping, or just to breathe the atmosphere by sitting in one of the many Vienna Café-Houses and watch the street life. With a Jewish local guide you will go for a walk exploring the lovely city core and see the Hofburg, the elegant Kohlmarkt, and the Stephansdom (Vienna’s landmark). The focus on this tour is on the Jewish Quarter as the city’s history is inextricably linked to the history of Vienna’s Jews.

Budapest

Explore the Jewish Quarter on the “Pest” side of the city and do a treasure hunt. Enjoy this historical city with a lot of fascinating, hidden corners and step into the footprints of the past. Have a moving experience at the Holocaust Memorial Center that focuses on research and education. Do Tikkun Olam in cooperation with the Jewish Institutions of Budapest. Visit the Moishe House and meet young adults who share stories about Jewish life in Budapest and are rebuilding the Jewish community.
