Experience the Kotel on Shabbat with time for reflection during the most special time of the week. Observe and understand the diversity of worshipers who gather at the Western Wall and learn about unique prayers. Participate in a traditional Shabbat dinner with a family in their home while feasting on a variety of homemade cuisine from nine different Jewish communities around the world.

A two day spiritual excursion, first you will follow the footsteps of Elijah and discover the mystery of Mt. Carmel. Visit Elijah’s cave, continue to the Bahai Shrine, visit the Hecht Museum and the Jewish Necropolis at Beit She’arim. Spend the evening and the following day in Safed, the center of Jewish mysticism for hundreds of years. Visit Abuhav Synagogue, Kabbalah Music Center, have a meeting at the Kabbalah Center in the Old City and see prominent sages and mystic inscriptions at the ancient cemetery.

 

Archaeology

A truly fun option for kids and adults takes you on a learning experience to play archaeologist by really sifting through actual excavation debris from the Temple Mount...or fire your imagination by participating in the Dig for a Day Program at the Beit Guvrin Caves, associated with the Bar Kochba Revolt 132 AD where you'll find 2000 year old pieces of pottery from Roman and Byzantine times.

 

Three Religions, One Holy City

This fascinating day tour reveals the history of the Temple Mount and Jerusalem's sacredness to the three monotheistic religions: Christianity, Islam and Judaism while combining it with special personal encounters with representatives for each religion. Begin at the Temple Mount then meet with a Muslim Imam who will explain its importance to Islam and teach about where it is mentioned in Islam literature. Continue the day with a hands-on archaeological dig experience in the Tzurim Valley. Sift through archaeological materials dating back from the Temple Mount and learn to recognize the importance and history of the mountain to Judaism with a Jewish Archaeologist. Visit the top of the Mount of Olives for a beautiful overview of Jerusalem and a meeting with a Christian Pastor to learn about the sacred Christian sites in the Old City and their significance to Christianity. WWOOF with the Locals

Participants of WWOOF Israel can enroll in hands-on volunteer programs in a variety of fields and in a local environment, including organic garden, green building, cheese and wine-making and animal husbandry, among others. WWOOF Israel Hosts are mostly Kibbutz, Moshav, Farms and small private families

Absorption Centers: New Beginnings

The Jewish Agency has planned, traveled with, welcomed with open arms and aided new immigrants (olim) in their integration into Israeli society. Absorption Centers offer transitional housing, lessons in Hebrew and preparation for life for new immigrant families and adults at the beginning of their new lives in Israel. Join us on a visit to an absorption center and meet olim in their new home and witness their first steps in the absorption process that will help them become fully engaged Israelis. Participate in classes and meet a young immigrant who will share his or her story with you.
